Mercy Wanjau

Principal Legal Officer, Communications Commission of Kenya 

Biography:

In her current role Mercy is involved in providing advisory support in legal and regulatory aspects such as statutory compliance, public policy analysis and legislative development. With the rapid developments in the sector, she has been involved in negotiations, drafting, stakeholder consultations and enabling implementation of the ICT framework locally, in the region (COMESA and EAC) and internationally (ITU/UNCTAD/World Bank/Infodev).

One of the most significant projects she has worked on is the ICT Regulation Toolkit (www.ictregulationtoolkit.org), an online capacity building resource for the ICT sector created out of collaboration between Infodev/World Bank and ITU.

She is an Eisenhower Fellow and sits as a member of the Kenya ICT Board.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
